IRS990/Desc0SLLEAs autism-specific supported living and housing program fosters sustained personal growth across three pivotal adult-life areas: (1) independent living, (2) post-secondary education, and (3) career exploration and meaningful employment. Our services model is intentionally designed to encourage maximal independence in the least restrictive and most normalized environment.Ending our third year, SLLEA now operates six supported living homes. We also provide supports to a number of individuals who still live with their family and individuals who live in their own home. SLLEA offers our students a comprehensive platform of direct services, skills training, and social opportunity. Throughout our programming, we integrate cognitive software and assistive technology that is individually adapted to needs and goals, with particular focus on supporting self and home management, executive functioning, and organizational skills.SLLEA's curriculum incorporates progression tiers to address a broad range of experience and to develop and grow skills and abilities across home, higher education and employment. At tier one, SLLEA supports individuals still living in their family home, helping them plan and prepare for a successful transition to living away from family and supporting self, often for the first time. At tier two, SLLEA offers a unique introduction into independent living in our Training and Assessment Program (TAP). TAP is a minimum 10-month live-in program that provides comprehensive functional skill training and assessment combined with high frequency check-in, mentoring and guidance. Given that autism frequently presents with general anxiety disorder - a condition that can become debilitating with heightened stress - TAP is critical to providing a structured, safe and stable environment as TAP students learn to manage life on their own for the first time.At SLLEA's third tier, TAP graduates and other individuals with strong independent living skills may place into one of four - and growing - SLLEA Advanced Placement Program (APP) homes. In our APP homes, support levels and trainings are gradually scaled down over time to promote greater personal growth and self-reliance as APP students work towards higher independence benchmarks. As students become ready, SLLEA supports them in planning and making the transition from APP to their own apartment or house. At this highest program tier, SLLEA remains available to provide assistance as individuals choose, and at support levels that allow them to remain independent in their community.
