WHERE APPROPRIATE, WE CONNECTED INDIVIDUALS WITH TRUSTED JOURNALISTS TO HELP THEM TELL THEIR STORIES AND MADE REFERRALS TO ATTORNEYS TO HELP EXPLORE THEIR LEGAL OPTIONS. WE CONTINUED TO RUN OUR WORKER-LED AWARENESS CAMPAIGN FOR THE ADULT SURVIVORS ACT, WHICH GAVE TIME-BARRED SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL ABUSE A ONE-YEAR WINDOW TO PURUE JUSTICE IN NEW YORK STATE. MORE THAN 3,000 CIVIL LAWSUITS WERE FILED BEFORE THE WINDOW CLOSED ON NOVEMBER 23, 2023. AT TEN EVENTS, FROM A PRESS CONFERENCE IN ALBANY TO A KNOW YOUR RIGHTS PANEL IN MANHATTAN, WE EDUCATED OUR COMMUNITY AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ABOUT OUR EFFORTS TO CREATE A FAIRER AND MORE ACCOUNTABLE FASHION INDUSTRY. OUR WORK WAS FEATURED 32 TIMES IN LEADING MEDIA PUBLICATIONS, INCLUDINGNEW YORK MAGAZINE, THE NEW YORK TIMES, VOGUE BUSINESS, VARIETY,AND BLOOMBERG LAW. WE CONDUCTED A PRELIMINARY POLL OF OVER 100 FASHION MODELS AND INFLUENCERS TO UNDERSTAND THEIR EXPERIENCES AND PERSPECTIVES ON THE USE OF GENERATIVE AI IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY, AND SHARED OUR FINDINGS AT THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION'S ROUNDTABLE ON AI AND THE CREATIVE ECONOMY. WE CAMPAIGNED FOR THE FASHION WORKERS ACT, OUR SIGNATURE BILL THAT WILL CREATE BASIC LABOR PROTECTIONS FOR THE THOUSANDS OF MODELS WORKING IN NEW YORK'S FASHION INDUSTRY, INCLUDING PROTECTIONS AGAINST THE MISUSE OF AI, AND PROTECT COUNTLESS OTHERS WHO ASPIRE TO WORK IN THE BUSINESS. WE DEVELOPED LEADERSHIP IN MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR WORKER COUNCIL TO ENGAGE IN PUBLIC SPEAKING, PEN ESSAYS AND OP-EDS, UNDERGO MEDIA TRAINING, ORGANIZE THEIR PEERS FOR A RALLY OR EVENT, AND MORE. WE PROVIDED WORKER LEADERS WITH HONORARIA FOR SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS AND TRAVEL STIPENDS TO MAKE PARTICIPATION IN OUR EFFORTS ACCESSIBLE. AS A RESULT OF OUR ADVOCACY, THE NEW YORK STATE LEGISLATURE VOTED TO PASS THE FASHION WORKERS ACT WITH BIPARTISAN SUPPORT, AND THE BILL WAS DELIVERED TO THE GOVERNOR'S DESK FOR SIGNATURE.
