“This grant is designed to eradicate female genital mutilation (fgm) in east kenya in collaboration with childlife kenya. We used technology called vpack to enroll 1,000 girls ages 9-15 in ten schools in our educational program to bring awareness about the harms of fgm on girls and their livelihood. The program documents in real time and communicates with stakeholders and authorities about the girls that report being in danger of undergoing fgm. Thus far the girls have been saved and the parents have become informed and therefore committed not to cut their girls.”
