“Part III Line 4a Program Accomplishments: MAS Conversations for More Pride: MÁS Conversaciones para MÁS Orgullo. It is a virtual space that was born within the framework of the covid-19 pandemic, in response to national racial tensions in May 2020. The aim was to raise awareness about anti-blackness feelings and provide a space of support and healing for members of our community. In 2024 MÁS Conversaciones, extending the program, designed and produced a Podcast. We launched the first series of MÁS Podcast para MÁS Orgullo with 6 episodes. We entered into conversation about different topics around cultural appropriation, Afro Diasporic art and its relationship with spirituality. Connecting MAS / Youth Program Conectándonos MÁS is a youth program that seeks to educate and inspire young people to connect with and explore their ancestral roots and learn about the cultural contributions of Afro-descendants in Latin America. In this program we learn about the black history of Abya Yala and its entailment to the human rights of people of African descent through connecting with local artists who promote Afro-diasporic arts. The program culminates with a final celebration where we will share the results of all the work done by the youth with the Seattle community. MAS Workshops: This year we offered a virtual workshop in Spanish autobiographical writing goals and imaginaries dissident to coloniality, publishing project initiative Catinga Ediciones,dictated by the Dominican artist Johan Mijail. This workshop was aimed at black and/or Afro-descendant LGBTQI+ people, racialized people and allies. We also offered Bomba Danza and Music Workshop, which is an Afropuertorican traditional art form. The 3rd workshop of the year was around Fandango, which is an afro mexican tradition.”
