Additional Explanations

FORM 990, PART II, SIGNING OFFICER:

Signing officer melissa neeley is not listed on pt. Vii. Melissa neeley is the current ceo and joined the organization after the end of the tax year.

FORM 990, PART IX, LINE 25:

Program service expenses the foundation is run by the chief executive officer and chief operating officer with assistance from the board. Their compensation is the largest expense of the organization. Their main responsibilities are to run the programs and raise money. Their time is allocated based on actual time spent in each function, which shows program service expense as 82% of total expenses. The special events generate a substantial amount of revenue used to run the program and are required events for the organization. Over time, the organization expects to rely less on special events to generate revenue which will allow more time to be spent on improving the program. In addition, the organization receives in-kind donations for the two main programs (power of thanksgiving and student service program). These in-kind donations include supplies, food and various facilitators and educators. The in-kind donations (of time and material) allow the organization to keep program costs low.
