The sk is the final, celebratory event of the 10 week program. All girls, the program volunteers, family members and friends of girls on the run will run or walk the untimed, family-friendly sk. Every girl wears a race bib with "1" on it and receives a medal when she crosses the finish line. Girls on the run seeks to engage the parents and caregivers of participants as well. To assist families in reinforcing the lessons learned at girls on the run, parents and caregivers are presented with a "grown up guide." this guide provides a summary of each lesson topic and

Form 990, Page 1, Part I, Line 6

Girls on the run neo is committed to having a diverse coaching team. Our coaches and volunteers reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Girls on the run northeast ohio (gotrneo) uses physical activity as a platform for teaching life skills and promoting positive social, emotional, and holistic health outcomes through developmentally appropriate lessons for third to eighth grade girls. Participants learn critical life skills and behaviors such as how to manage emotions, help others, make intentional decisions, and resolve conflict that they can use long after the program's conclusion. These critical skills have been shown to provide short- and long-term benefits to children such as positive social behavior, less emotional stress, fewer behavioral problems, and academic success. Girls on the run international (gotri) national coach training program prepares coaches to build relationships with participants, create a positive, inclusive supportive environment (including providing an inclusive experience for participants with different abilities), support individual improvement, create trauma-sensitive spaces, and deliver the research-based curriculum as intended. Additionally, the research-based program promotes the resiliency of adolescent girls by giving them the tools they need - such as coping skills, positive self-image, and positive self-talk - to navigate life's difficult situations. Girls on the run has an intentional focus on topics that are crucial during this time. The stress level for youth has increased tremendously. Girls on the run hosts two 10-week sessions per year, one in the spring and one in the fall. By the end of each season, participants develop and improve competence and strength of character, demonstrate greater self-confidence, treat themselves and others with care and compassion, and learn the power of helping others through each team's completion of a community impact project. Girls at each site determine together what project they will complete. One lesson is devoted to the completion of the impact project. Hundreds of sites since 2007 have provided something beneficial and meaningful to their community. The physical component of each lesson prepares all girls to run or walk the girls on the run 5k, which serves as the culminating event of the 10-week program. Crossing the finish line builds a very real sense of competence as girls experience the confidence that comes through accomplishment. Combined together, these skills position participants to avoid unhealthy habits and risky behaviors, and lead them to being healthy- physically, mentally and socially. Girls on the run is effective and appropriate for girls of all races, ethnicities, social standing, fitness level, family or economic situation. The format of the program provides all girls with the opportunity to be successful. The target population for girls on the run is girls in 3rd - 8th grades. There are two curriculums, girls on the run is for girls in 3rd to 5th grade and heart & sole is for girls in 6th - 8th grade. The content is similar for both populations. The middle school program is written in a manner that is more appropriate for middle school girls. High school girls are also welcome to serve as junior coaches and can receive 20 service hours toward graduation from high school by assisting the coaching team in mentoring the participants in the program. Junior coaches are also eligible to apply for a scholarship to continue their education after high school. Girls on the run charges a registration fee of 185.00, however, approximately 44% of participants are receiving some portion of financial assistance. Girls on the run is available to all girls regardless of their financial situation. Those registering a participant self-report what they are able to pay for the program to help eliminate barriers. Girls on the run has a diversified funding stream which makes it possible to ensure that all girls who wish to participate can. Funding comes from registration fees, grants, sponsorships, and individual giving.

IRS990/Desc0GIRLS ON THE RUN NORTHEAST OHIO (GOTRNEO) USES PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AS A PLATFORM FOR TEACHING LIFE SKILLS AND PROMOTING POSITIVE SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, AND HOLISTIC HEALTH OUTCOMES THROUGH DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE LESSONS FOR THIRD TO EIGHTH GRADE GIRLS.
