Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part XI Line 1

The organization uses the income tax basis of accounting; consequently, certain revenue and the related assets are recognized when received rather than when earned, and certain expenses are recognized when paid rather than when the obligation is incurred. Amounts recognized as sales include a down payment assistance portion which is recorded as notes receivable. Costs for purchases and rehabilitation of homes are recorded as inventory and expensed when sold. Prior period adjustments $-83,467 was to correct prior years depreciation from 2015 to 2017.

Financial Statement Notes

Part X, Line 2:

WCHDC qualifies as a tax-exempt organization, other than a private foundation, under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and, therefore, has no provision for federal income taxes. The Organizations file required income tax returns in the U.S. federal jurisdiction and various states. With few exceptions, the Organizations are no longer subject to the U.S. federal, state and local income tax examinations by tax authorities for years before 2011. The Organizations have concluded no material uncertain tax positions have been taken on any open tax returns. For the current year the Organizations believe all tax positions are fully supportable by existing Federal law and related interpretations and there are no uncertain tax positions to consider.

The Organizations file required income tax returns in the U.S. federal jurisdiction and various states. With few exceptions, the Organizations are no longer subject to the U.S. federal, state and local income tax examinations by tax authorities for years before 2011. The Organizations have concluded no material uncertain tax positions have been taken on any open tax returns. For the current year the Organizations believe all tax positions are fully supportable by existing Federal law and related interpretations and there are no uncertain tax positions to consider.
