Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 2

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The company has been recognized as a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization by the internal revenue service under section 501(c)(3) and 501(a) of the internal revenue code. The supply center, a c corporation, is subject to federal and state income taxes. Income taxes are accounted for under the asset and liability method. Deferred tax assets and liabilities are recognized for the future tax consequences attributable to differences between the financial statement carrying amounts of existing assets and liabilities and their respective tax bases and operating loss and tax credit carryforwards. Deferred tax assets and liabilities are measured using enacted tax rates expected to apply to taxable income in the years in which those temporary differences are expected to be recovered or settled. Deferred tax assets are reduced by a valuation allowance when, in the opinion of management, it is more likely than not that some portion or all of the deferred tax assets will not be realized. The effect on deferred tax assets and liabilities of a change in tax rates is recognized in income in the period that includes the enactment date. The supply center may recognize the tax benefit from an uncertain tax position only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained on examination by taxing authorities, based on the technical merits of the position. The tax benefits recognized in the financial statements from such a position are measured based on the largest benefit that has a greater than 50% likelihood of being realized upon ultimate settlement. The supply center's policy is to record interest and penalties associated with uncertain tax positions as a component of income tax expense.

IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0THE COMPANY HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED AS A TAX-EXEMPT, NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION BY THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE UNDER SECTION 501(C)(3) AND 501(A) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE.
