Activity 2

The Nebraska Theatre Caravan (NTC) is the professional touring wing of the Omaha Community Playhouse and currently produces two national tours of A Christmas Carol each year. These tours are renowned throughout the country as a "must-see" holiday tradition, and OCP leaders are investigating the possibilities of expanding our touring with other productions. Throughout the Nebraska Theatre Caravan's history, tours have performed in every state (but Hawaii) and four Canadian provinces; each year approximately 20 states are on the schedule.

Activity 3

OCP's Education and Outreach efforts include a variety of classes and workshops onsite at OCP and at multiple satellite locations throughout the city; they are available on-demand for schools, organizations and other nonprofits. These Education and Outreach efforts serve an estimated 60% Caucasian, 20% African American, 15% Hispanic and 5% "other" population base, and the majority of our satellite locations are focused toward inner-city underserved populations. Our Theatre Technology Apprenticeship Program (TTAP) is a unique school-to-work program presented in collaboration with Metro Community College and the U.S. Department of Labor that trains students in the technical aspects for a career in the performing arts. After completing the two-year program, student apprentices can be certified with the U.S. Department of Labor and have earned 54 hours of college credit. This program serves approximately a 71% male to 29% female ratio and 51% or more of the students come from low-to-moderate income family households.
