By making mentors and high-end equipment available to members and guests, bgs has widened the skills in the local workforce and inspired the next generation of technical and creative talent in buffalo. Bgs has hosted hundreds of events including meetups and workshops for members and the public alike. In 2018 bgs held the 2nd annual queen city high school game jam where teams from six buffalo public high schools were taught by mentors how to make their first game. Bgs also hosted a fall workshop series where several selected applicants with limited economic means were sponsored to attend the entire game development workshop series free of charge to further enhance the diversity of voices in the local tech and arts sectors. In the spring of 2018, bgs hosted the first annual buffalo game expo, giving game creators the opportunity to meet with the public and get valuable feedback on their projects.”
