| IRS990/Desc | 0 | Resource Development: Homeschool law throughout the U.S. has few measures to ensure the nations over 4-6 million homeschooled children receive an education that protects them from harm and prepares them for an open future. Many states do not have subject matter requirements, academic assessments, or recordkeeping for homeschooling families, and most do little to prevent, monitor, and stop abuse and neglect in homeschool settings. Homeschooled students have no guaranteed access to the resources their public-schooled peers often have, such as guidance counselors, job fairs, teachers, and mentors. Our most recent resource aims to address that gap. Charting Your Own Course: A College and Career Preparedness Guide for Homeschooled Students and Alumni is a first-of-its-kind website and e-book designed to give homeschooled teens, young adults, and their families guidance on higher education, trade and vocational education, and career preparedness. This resource is just one example of the many we have available to help homeschooled students and their families. Additionally, we offer virtual, real-time peer-support conversations for alumni transitioning out of homeschool settings. |

| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc | 0 | Research: For over a decade, staff and volunteers have compiled Homeschoolings Invisible Children (HIC), the worlds largest database of homeschooled child abuse cases. We have documented over 500 such cases, including over 230 fatalities. CRHEs director of programs has developed a live webinar-based training program to teach child welfare professionals how to recognize and prevent all types of abuse and neglect in homeschool settings. The training has now been delivered to over 1,400 professionals at state-based agencies like child protective services and child advocacy centers. In addition to leading research efforts on abuse and neglect, CRHE also conducts research on homeschool outcomes from holistic (not purely academic) outcomes and tracks and analyzes state-based legislation that impacts homeschooled children. |

CRHE is a critical voice for homeschooled children in the media. From 2023-2025, we consulted on an episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, were cited in editorials by the Washington Post and Scientific American editorial boards endorsing homeschool reform, and cited extensively in op-eds and features in the New York Times, New York Magazine, the Atlantic, and the Guardian. In addition, CRHE responds regularly via phone, text, social media, and email inquiries from across the globe that deliver crisis responses as well as resources and connections to homeschooling and adjacent populations. We also offer a webinar series to educate policymakers on the landscape of homeschooling oversight policy in the US. |

Despite exercising ordinary business care and prudence, these circumstances temporarily delayed final reconciliation and completion of the return. Once the transitions were completed and responsibilities fully assumed, the organization acted promptly to finalize and file Form 990. The organization has a history of timely compliance and has taken steps to ensure timely filing in future years, including clarifying filing responsibilities and transition procedures for key officers. |
