Profile
To advance the new field of Celestial Geodynamics, which is the widely interdisciplinary study of celestial-mechanical forcing geodynamics and the consequences of such effects accumulating over time. To increase knowledge of the interplay of physical mechanisms and crustal processes that energize and trigger earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, by contributing to and expanding academic and professional studies. To develop methodologies for accurately forecasting large earthquakes and volcanic eruptions-to save lives, reduce suffering, and support recovery. Forecasts must be timely: sufficiently in advance to allow preparation by governments, nongovernmental organizations, and populations; yet immediate enough to require an urgency for action. To disseminate study results for locations and issue warnings of impending geodynamic conditions that appear significantly hazardous for resident populations.

| Research efforts in 2015 by the Institute for Celestial Geodynamics (IfCG) continued to investigate and develop interesting aspects of celestial-geodynamic triggering of magnitude greater than M 6.0 earthquakes. Indications of Martian synodic periods perturbing Earth were discovered within the time series of deeper time-derivatives of ellipsoidal demand and ultimately, polar drift. To most effectively follow this line of inquiry, collaboration was begun with Dr. Ivan Tikhonov, who published a study in 2008 that included the quake-triggering propensity of Mars. A new Appendix B to the Los Angeles and San Francisco draft article resulted, which examined the apparent governing dynamics of triggering impetus by Mars. In parallel, a confidential collaboration began with a data sciences group at a U.S. government science agency on developing a project proposal to study the utilization of state-space representations, or related mathematical formalisms, to analyze contributions of mechanical jerk and jounce to the quake-triggering impetus of both ellipsoidal demand and earth tides. This proposal is being developed and co-written between IfCG and that agency. | $0 | $10,653 |
