Mission

The organization's mission is to maximize the quality and value of hernia care through collaboration which is carried out, in part, by operating a quality collaborative initiative known as americas hernia society quality collaborative which gathers, analyzes, collaboratively shares, and publishes data relating to the surgical intervention and treatment of hernia disease in human patients within the united states, utilizing a web-based data collection system, currently found at https://ahsqc.org.

The organization carried out its mission through its collaborative collection and sharing of hernia surgery data to improve hernia surgery quality and value.

New program services: the organization increased the number of hernia cases collected in its ahsqc patient registry from approximately 27,000 to over 42,000 hernia cases and had a total of 320 surgeons from 40 states contributing data. The number of peer reviewed journal publications using ahsqc data increased from 18 to 26. Six grants were given to surgical residents and fellows to support research using data collected through the organizations patient registry. The organization hosted its inaugural quality improvement summit, a scientific conference for over 50 surgeons who contribute patient data to the organizations ahsqc patient registry to meet for 1 days of highly interactive sessions where attendees shared practical approaches for optimizing surgical techniques and improving patient outcomes and long-term well-being.
