Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The purpose of the foundation is to provide grants to organizations that are dedicated to general community charitable purposes, including food banks, youth sports organizations, programs for at-risk youth, health and nutrition programs, educational programs and institutions, community development activities, emergency and disaster relief, and other organizations that are exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The foundation considers many factors when evaluating and estimating its tax positions and tax benefits, which may require periodic adjustments and which may not accurately anticipate actual outcomes. The foundation evaluates its uncertain tax positions using the provisions in conformity with u.s. Gaap. These standards require management to perform an evaluation of all income tax positions taken, or expected to be taken in the course of preparing the foundation's income tax returns. Management believes the income tax positions taken more likely than not will be sustained under examination by the applicable tax authorities. Examples of tax positions include the tax-exempt status of the foundation and various positions related to the potential sources of unrelated business taxable income. Since tax matters are subject to some degree of uncertainty, there can be no assurance that the foundation's tax returns will not be challenged by the taxing authorities and that the foundation will not be subject to additional tax, penalties, and interest as a result of such challenge.

EXAMPLES OF TAX POSITIONS INCLUDE THE TAX-EXEMPT STATUS OF THE FOUNDATION AND VARIOUS POSITIONS RELATED TO THE POTENTIAL SOURCES OF UNRELATED BUSINESS TAXABLE INCOME.
