Additional Explanations

Pt III, Line 2

The Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellows Program - although a separate Sec. 501(c)(3) entity - is also one of 14 chapters of the Albert Schweitzer National Fellowship that promotes health and environmental justice by developing leaders in service who embody the legacy of famed physician and humanitarian, Albert Schweitzer, since 1997. Schweitzer Fellows have worked at over 100 community sites throughout the Greater Pittsburgh region. The Program usually supports 15-25 exceptional Fellows each year from 4-5 Universities, usually incurring on average 4,400 volunteer hours to approximately 5,000 deserving constituents.

As part of the National Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, the program utilizes Albert Schweitzer's principles coupled with a direct-service servant leadership model that incorporates an understanding of the social derminants of health that affect health outcomes for a community's most vulernable people.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0The Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellows Program - although a separate Sec. 501(c)(3) entity - is also one of 14 chapters of the Albert Schweitzer National Fellowship that promotes health and environmental justice by developing leaders in service who embody the legacy of famed physician and humanitarian, Albert Schweitzer, since 1997. Schweitzer Fellows have worked at over 100 community sites throughout the Greater Pittsburgh region. The Program usually supports 15-25 exceptional Fellows each year from 4-5 Universities, usually incurring on average 4,400 volunteer hours to approximately 5,000 deserving constituents.
