Sentinel Vocational Apprentice Training (SVAT) provides technical and vocational construction training to unemployed and underemployed adults. Program participants will graduate OSHA certified and with entry level competency in construction and sustainable technologies such as LED and Photovoltaic cells. A combined program of mentorship, trades related apprentice training, and career development will make a significant difference in the quality of the community workforce. Svats mission is to train and implement a substantive vocational program for the city of mount vernon. Svats mission is to train and implement a substantive vocational program for the city of mount vernon, ny as a new york state recognized apprenticeship program. Svat is a significant conduit for the citys equl opportunity and non-discrimination 2013 resolution, whereby, it provides training to individuals and local small contractors. It also is engaged in preparing individuals to operate in a professional capacity. Green construction technology paves the way for job creation in the future. Therefore, svat provides instructional apprenticeship training in the green areas of led lighting, photovoltaic (pv) or solare cell systems, and energy efficient hvac.
