The neighborherd initiative is designed to manage production, delivery and educational programs related to sustainable food production for the local school district and surrounding community. This is a financially self- sustaining closed system within the participating school district designed to accomplish the following: provide naturally raised hormone-free pastured meat for the school district's lunch program the neighborherd works with school districts and their food service providers to replace the commodity ground beef in their supply chain with ground beef from our naturally and locally grazed herd. These cattle are never given steroids or hormones and spend their days eating natural, chemical-free pasture forages. In order to keep the net cost to the district of this program close to zero, the ground beef is sold to the school district at close to the price they would otherwise pay for commodity ground beef. Practice sustainable rotational grazing on leased or granted-use land
