| ACHR was created to deal primarily with human rights aspects of terrorism, nuclear issues, and sanctions. In this respect, there is a close connection between these two sets of issues. Hence, the activities of the ACHR build upon those of its sister organization the IPC.Terrorism, nuclear issues, and sanctions have human rights implications. As the Department of State demonstrates, the Iranian regime is both the most leading state sponsor of terrorism and a proliferator of nuclear weapons. With Irans close relationship with North Korea, they are both prime time proliferators and human rights violators. As sanctions are lifted with the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, Tehran is bound to spend gains from the sale of oil to suppress the peoples of Iran.During 2014, the IPC shifted its publishing approach from new books to updating its main book publication and publishing articles. They appeared in professional online journals. The articles also were republished in the IPC blog, called Iran Policy Committee Publishing. The blog contains both articles from IPC and ACHR. In addition, articles dealing with terrorism and its human rights consequences appeared on other sites, which included The International Institute for Counter-Terrorism in Israel. The main accomplishments during the 2014 included conducting interviews, engaging in library and Internet research of documents, and merging of evidence from multiple sources for revision of the book, Arab Rebels and Iranian Dissidents from 2013. That volume illustrates the overlap between IPC and ACHR. Several articles appeared in professional journals as OP Ed pieces in newspapers. Additionally, the organizations directors appeared on a variety of media forums during 2014. They included BBC Arabic, BBC Persian, BBC English; Voice of America; Aljazeera Arabic and English; China Central Television (CCTV) English and Mandarin television; CBS Radio; Bloomberg TV; MSNBC; CNN; Fox News Channel (FNC); and Russian Television (RT) Arabic service. These discussions took into account the overlap between IPC and ACHR. The directors took part in a variety of forums in the Congress, provided briefings to congressional staffers when invited, and held several press conferences. The directors spoke on behalf of either or both IPC and ACHR. | $73,000 | $73,000 |
