Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Other

Part iii line 28: multi-visit museum programs to partner museums by local secondary school students and teachers. These museum visits and activities in the classrooms are intended to enhance teaching and help build important critical thinking and other 21st c. Learning skills. Working with teachers from three local schools during our initial pilot year, we reached over three hundred (300) students directly through multi-visit museum programs. These programs involved bringing large groups of students to partner museums for half or full-day visits and also included time spent in the classroom. Amped produced printed material to enhance the lessons and learning, and also published student work where appropriate.

Other

Part iii line 29:2.college student participation in amped internships and activities aims to build important 21st c. Skills such as creative and critical thinking, collaboration and communication and gives students real-world working in the museum education field and non-profit management. Description: students from williams college and the massachusetts college of liberal arts took part in full time, immersive summer internships, which gave them the opportunity to work closely with local teachers and the museums to help develop programs. They also took part in customized learning opportunities. College students also took part in part-time internships during the academic year.

Other

Part ii: line 30 3. Professional development and exchange for teachers provides opportunities for teachers to coordinate and communicate amongst themselves, and with museum staff and college interns, and to reflect on the museum learning experiences. Periodic meetings and convenings brought museum staff, teachers and interns together to reflect on the multi-museum visit programs, engage in professional development around learning and teaching, and plan for future activities.
