Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
After the top three programs listed above, smaller grants were made to Hope Empowers Uganda for: sewing machines for Essubi Tailoring Program, doors for the inside of the boy's home (including bathroom and bedroom doors), a wheelchair for a local boy in the Empower Ability Program, a printer/scanner, welding equipment for the welding vocational program, slum medical outreach, and initial funding for Hope Empowers Academy.$28,231$28,231
Grant to Hope Empowers Uganda Terris Rescue Home, home to 8 boys rescued from the Kampala slum streets, our support of this program made it possible to support their living, educational, medical, and staffing expenses. For under $6/day/boy, these kids are safe, fed and educated (which is costly in Uganda). The 7 staff (accountant, director, mama, guard, 2 wardens, & teacher) also work in other Hope Empowers programs, like Director & Accountant for the entire organization, Slum Outreach and school.$16,739$16,379
Grant to Hope Empowers Uganda Slum Outreach. This program focuses on the homeless children in the Kampala Slums. One part of this Outreach travels to the slums once weekly to minister to approximately 50 boys who live on the streets. The support pays outdoor space rent, food, staff to prepare food & travel expenses to Kampala. They receive a meal, hear Gods word, and listen to music, play games and receive counseling. The program costs under $2/boy/Outreach. The Outreachs major expense of $8,452 is for the annual Slum Outreach Christmas party where over 900 children are gathered from the streets and transported to a venue where they experience their only Christmas celebration. The day includes transport, staffing, venue rent, a meal, a gift of a new outfit, games, over so much fun! This is a day these children look forward to all year long!$11,482$11,482
Grant to Hope Empowers Academy in Uganda. The dire need for ultra-low cost education to serve the extreme poor (defined by the WHO as earning less than $2.15/day) was so critical that Hope Empowers started a Primary school in 2024. Seven boys from Terris Home attend the school along with over 90 village children who otherwise would have no opportunity for education. Our goal in partnering with Hope Empowers is to break the cycle of generational poverty through basic education. Our support funded 8 teachers, start-up supplies like desks & books, a daily meal for the children, and much more.$10,814$10,814
