Mamatoto Village is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, devoted to training the next generation of Community Birthworkers and Midwives; and empowering women with the necessary tools to make the most informed decisions and choices in their maternity care, their parenting, and their lives. Our mission is two fold: to provide complimentary and low-cost maternal health services to women and their families during pregnancy through the first year of the child's life, and to facilitate the increase of qualified women of color serving in the profession of Perinatal Community Health Workers and/or Midwives. By promoting health equity, which will aid in the reduction of barriers and inequality in maternal and child health for women of color in the D.C. Metro Area, we aim to foster healthy individuals, healthy families and healthy communities.

Mission

Mamatoto Village is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, devoted to training the next generation of Community Birthworkers and Midwives; and empowering women with the necessary tools to make the most informed decisions and choices in their maternity care, their parenting, and their lives. FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

Mamatoto village is devoted to serving black women through the creation of career pathways in maternal health; and providing accessible perinatal support services designed to equip women with the necessary tools to make the most informed decisions in their maternity care, parenting, and lives.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Mothers rising home visiting program (mrhvp)facilitates the inclusion of the perinatal health worker into maternity case management. It serves the dual purpose of optimizing pregnancy outcomes, including reducing the incidences of low birth weight babies, infant mortality, and low breastfeeding initiation and duration; and optimizing birth outcomes, including reduced cesarean sections, epidural use, assisted vaginal deliveries, pregnancy-related complications leading to inductions, and reduced nicu admissions. The program also promotes nutrition, fitness, emotional wellness and health coordination and is designed to decrease pregnancy related complications that can be avoided due to poor maternal nutrition, lack of education, and limited access to healthy food options. These services are provided face-to-face throughout the client's pregnancy, during labor and delivery, and up to 3 months postpartum and include childbirth and parent education classes.

THE PROGRAM ALSO PROMOTES NUTRITION, FITNESS, EMOTIONAL WELLNESS AND HEALTH COORDINATION AND IS DESIGNED TO DECREASE PREGNANCY RELATED COMPLICATIONS THAT CAN BE AVOIDED DUE TO POOR MATERNAL NUTRITION, LACK OF EDUCATION, AND LIMITED ACCESS TO HEALTHY FOOD OPTIONS.
