“The mission and vision for visit big sky (vbs) was revised to: 1. Mission: as the community's official destination management and marketing organization, visit big sky leads the development and promotion of authentic tourism experiences through research and stakeholder collaboration to grow big sky's economy while balancing the need to sustain quality of life for its residents. 2. Vision: big sky's confluence of nature, culture, people and preservation is so inspiring that one visit makes you want to stay for a lifetime. The bylaws were revised and restated during fiscal year 2018 to include the following changes: a. The maximum number of directors for the board was increased from 9 to 11 b. All instances of executive director relating to visit big sky bylaws were changed to ceo c. The ceo is now a part of the nominating committee d. The election of officers was changed from june to the 4th quarter of the fiscal year e.the qualification of directors was changed from class b members to tourism stakeholders nominated by the nominating committee. Members who are class "a" members no longer need to also be class "b" members”

“The organization has nine active lodging partner members who contribute proprietary data including occupancy and rates to assist in management and marketing of the destination.”

“The 990 is reviewed by the board of directors before signing and submitting to the irs.”

“Each director, officer and member of a committee with governing board delegated powers shall annually sign a statement which affirms such person: a. Has received a copy of the conflict of interest policy b. Has read and understands the policy c. Has agreed to comply with the policy d. Understands visit big sky is not for profit and, in order to maintain its federal tax exempt status, visit big sky must engage in activities that accomplish one or more of its tax-exempt purposes.”

“Documents are reviewed and approved by the board of directors. Upon approval, documents are posted within 48 hours to the website for the public to view.”

After an extensive dna study with the residents and stakeholders alike, the marketing methods will be focused on effectively communicating how big sky is perceived and why people should visit here instead of marketing what big sky has to offer in the way of activities.”

“As of january 1, 2018, visit big sky assumed fiscal responsibility from the big sky chamber of commerce of the big sky convention & visitor bureau (cvb), the state-designated repository for the 4% montana facility use lodging tax dollars dedicated to attracting non-resident visitors. The net assets for the cvb were added to the net assets of visit big sky for an increase of $146,488. 146,488.”
