Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The marks project (tmp) is an educational not-for-profit which promotes engagement and research in post-ww2 american ceramists by creating, maintaining and continually updating the first online research hub of these makers working 1945 onward. Tmp focuses on the ceramists and their marks. Each is documented with a unique artist's page which may include marks (signatures, stamps, etc), images of work and marks, a chronology, professional biography, list of public collections, bibliography, link to the artist's website, etc. Information is available worldwide for search. Research focuses on both nationally known and regionally known makers. Tmp serves 2 clients:the makers, potter/ceramist, who now have an established research platform to document their work and update it throughout their career; for the deceased maker, posthumous documentation is a professional legacy tool for potters.
