Program Purpose: To expand the Community Health Worker CHW workforce by providing free accessible training to underserved communities of color improving health equity and economic opportunity.Services Provided: The organization offered no-cost CHW core competency training health equity education and workforce readiness sessions to prepare participants for entry into the CHW profession. Training included communication skills care coordination cultural humility chronic disease prevention and community outreach strategies. Number of Persons Benefited: More than 35 individuals from underserved Black Latino and immigrant communities participated in the program and were supported in pursuing CHW roles across Rochester and the Finger Lakes region.Impact: The program reduced financial barriers to education increased representation of CHWs from communities most affected by health disparities and strengthened the local public health workforce.
