Mission

ORGANIZE SACRAMENTO provides training, education, and technical assistance in the form of individual and group classes, presentations, research assistance and coaching in order to educate community groups, individuals, organizations, small business owners and others on techniques of community organizing, local government processes, and community and business resources. The purpose is to equip citizens to think and act strategically to produce positive results when local community issues become organizing campaigns.

Sacramento Investment Without Displacement (SIWD): We successfully formed SIWD, and held several Educational presentations about the impact the Aggie Square development will have on surrounding neighborhoods.-$32,600
Education and outreach & other programs - Provide education, training, technical assistance and consulting to equip individuals, organizers, community leaders, and their organizations to think and act strategically to produce positive results when implementing issue actions and organizing campaigns.-$22,617
Boards & Commissions Leadership Institute (BCLI): We achieved a 6-week virtual training and graduated 12 participants. Sac Investment Without displacement achieved a Community Benefits Agreement with the City. There are approx. 15 organizational members of SIWD. The CBA included $40M in affordable housing subsidies, a one-stop job center on the Aggie Square campus, and a City-wide ordinance requiring CBA's on all future large developments.-$17,581
Sacramento Transit Riders Union (SacTRU): We achieved keeping public comment at RT Board meetings to 3 minutes when it was proposed to limit public speaking time to 1 minute. We continued to advocate for lower transit fares. We don't really have clients, but our core group is about 20 members, but all riders county wide benefit from our advocacy efforts. We also shared COVID19 safety information and public transit route changes & cancellation notifications via email, and on social media platforms.-$8,734
Redistricting: We formed the Sacramento Redistricting Coalition and held 9 virtual townhalls online to educate the public on how to participate in local redistricting processes. We had hundreds of people joined our virtual town halls. There is a lot more than I can type here.--
