Yale Alley Cats Alumni

“The corporation's primary charitable exempt purpose is to preserve, protect, promote, enhance and celebrate the history and tradition of the yale alley cats; to foster a sense of community among alumni of the yale alley cats; to act as liaison between the yale alley cats and yale university; to provide such support as may be necessary and appropriate for each year of the yale alley cats; and to support and encourage the broad enhancement of a cappella singing. In furtherance of such purpose, the corporation plans to conduct the activity described below.”

“The corporation plans to provide financial support to the yale alley cats, inc., a separate 501(c)(3) organization, to assist with its operations and performance of a cappella singing and to promote the other charitable purposes of the yale alley cats, inc. The corporation plans to provide this financial support through grants and interest-free loans to the yale alley cats, inc. To assist with its cash flow and working capital needs, to finance capital investments and to allow the yale alley cats, inc. To provide free performances of a cappella singing. These grants and interest-free loans will allow the yale alley cats, inc. To continue the history and tradition of the yale alley cats, to promote public appreciation of a cappella signing and to educate students at yale university and other educational institutions and the general public concerning a cappella singing. The corporation plans to operate this activity year-round as such support is needed or requested by the yale alley cats, inc.”

“The corporation also has supported and plans to support the yale alley cats, inc., a separate 501(c)(3) organization, and the appreciation and enhancement of a cappella singing generally with volunteer efforts. These volunteer efforts include (i) administrative, logistical and recruiting advice and mentoring to the officers of the yale alley cats, inc., (ii) cataloging and archiving the history, music and albums of the yale alley cats so that it is more easily available to the current members and alumni of the yale alley cats and the general public, (iii) assisting the yale alley cats, inc. With the design and maintenance of the website promoting the yale alley cats (www.yalealleycats.com) and (iv) establishing and maintaining a database of alumni of the yale alley cats to increase communication among such alumni and with the current members of the yale alley cats to promote and enhance the yale alley cats and a cappella singing. The corporation plans to operate this activity year-round, on an as-needed basis, subject to the availability of volunteers.”

“The corporation also plans to communicate with alumni of the yale alley cats and the general public regarding the achievements and needs of the yale alley cats and organize events to bring together alumni, the general public and current members of the yale alley cats in order to increase awareness of the charitable purpose of the yale alley cats, inc., a separate 501(c)(3) organization, and to foster connections and support between alumni and the general public and the yale alley cats, inc. For example, in february 2014, in connection with the 70th anniversary of the founding of the yale alley cats, the corporation organized a reunion of alumni of the yale alley cats to coincide with and support the yale alley cats' primary annual performance of a cappella singing to students of yale university. The corporation plans to communicate with alumni of the yale alley cats regarding the achievements and needs of the yale alley cats intermittently year-round, with more significant alumni events organized annually or every several years to coincide with meaningful historical or current yale alley cat events (e.g., the 75th anniversary of the founding of the yale alley cats).”
