One girl is dedicated to developing young women into social change agents through leadership based skill training, community service, and mind-body practices. Founded in 2012 as an outgrowth of the mentoring of pageant contestants to direct their enthusiasm to serve their communities, one girl now guides dozens of young women inside and outside the pageant system. One girl provides policy interventions, tailored volunteer opportunities, and transformative practices (educational opportunities, practical and self-empowerment training) that support and encourage the sustained growth of a woman in the workforce, within a home, and in society.

Mission

One girl is dedicated to developing young women into social change agents through leadership based skill training, community service, and mind-body practices. Founded in 2012 as an outgrowth of the mentoring of pageant contestants to direct their enthusiasm to serve their communities, one girl now guides dozens of young women inside and outside the pageant system. One girl provides policy interventions, tailored volunteer opportunities, and transformative practices (educational opportunities, practical and self-empowerment training) that support and encourage the sustained growth of a woman in the workforce, within a home, and in society.

1. Leadership TrainingOne Girl engages young women in the greater New York City area to join us as a One Girl Member. The foundation of our membership starts with a tailored curriculum focusing on leadership, service and sisterhood. STAGE 1: YOGA IN ACTIONYoga In Action allows participants to embark on a journey of self-inquiry and social awareness with the support of a small group of peers, which have led to socially conscious actions within their communities and society at large. The goal of the program was to foster personal to interpersonal growth, helping participants understand the nature of interdependence and the unique role we play as a part of a greater whole, which led to a deeper understanding of community service. It is designed for young women who are serious about volunteerism, advocacy and service. This is an important part of the One Girl mission, as we believe it is the foundation for building a deeper bond, a sisterhood among women that will ultimately help participants in creating effective change. STAGE 2: VISION IN MOTIONAfter completing Yoga In Action, members had the opportunity to submit a project idea, of their choosing, tackling an area of personal interest. Projects picked received complete support of One Girl, giving that member the lead role to advocate for her personal project. The projects picked were Women and Girls in the Workplace (WGW), Ignited Voices, In Plain Site, and Girl Talk.STAGE 3: ENHANCED LEADERSHIP TRAININGMembership in One Girl supports continued personal growth and development. Renewing members received enhanced leadership training that continues to support their on-going development. Always utilizing the centering, introspective and personal achievement supported through yoga and meditation techniques, this second level of training is tailored to the more advanced members journey.$30,735-
