The association's founders selected initial board members. Currently there is a formal, objective selection process for adding additional board members or replacing exiting board members.

The president of the organization along with the finance committee had the opportunity to review the annual tax filings before the are submitted and to raise any questions or concerns they have with the forms as prepared. Once all issues are resolved, the tax return is filed.

Minutes of board meetings should reflect when a board member discloses that s/he has a conflict of interests and how the conflict was managed, such as that there was a discussion on the matter without the board member in the room, and that a vote was taken but that the interested board member abstained (board members with a conflict are interested board members without a conflict are disinterested). A questionnaire is circulated each year to find out whether any board member (or staff member) has a conflict of interest. Typically the questionnaire asks board and staff members to disclose existing conflicts and reminds them to disclose any that may crop up in the future.

IRS990/Desc0Ramadan Program: For 30 days of the Muslim month of fasting, iftar (breaking the fast) meals were provided to an average of 120 people daily. An average of 350 were accommodated every night for the entire month to offer the Ramadan nightly prayers in congregation. In addition nightly lectures were delivered by an array of speakers on different topics of spiritual and social import, clothing and canned food drives were held for the whole month and the collections were handed over to service organizations serving the needy local community members. To facilitate these and an array of other Ramadan programs, a 6000 square-foot banquet hall was rented for the entire month of Ramadan.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Outreach and Service Projects: (a) MakeMeals Monthly Event: One weekend every month, our team of volunteers prepare hundreds of meals and distribute them the homeless in Washington, DC.(b) Career Development Program: Experts from different fields offer their services to young professionals, college students and high school students in terms of resume building, interview skills, choosing a specific career path and other career advice.(c) Health & Recreation Programs: A number of sports events are held periodically in rented space to provide the youth an positive outlet and encourage healthy competition while older youth are on hand to instill in the participants a sense of community and belonging and advise them on any specific personal, identity and career issues.

A questionnaire is circulated each year to find out whether any board member (or staff member) has a conflict of interest. Typically the questionnaire asks board and staff members to disclose existing conflicts and reminds them to disclose any that may crop up in the future.
