To engage, enrich, and enspire the human spirit through artistically exceptional youth ballet performances

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 28

Our 9th annual time to dance digital season featured youth performers ranging in ages from 5 to 18 years old (culled from local dance studios) and community member volunteer performers. Due to pandemic restrictions, auditions, rehearsals, and filming sessions occurred in small groups and in some cases virtually. Pivoting to a digital season allowed for collaboration with local business to be backdrops for the ballet performances presented. For instance, a cheese freezer in a local shop became the set for the mice to scare clara during the nutcracker. The snow scene choreographer used video editing to create the illusion that snowflakes danced together in a blizzard when in reality, the dancers performed for the camera socially spaced. Local musicians were recorded as solos or small ensembles to accompany the dancers again, to provide the safety of social distancing due to constraints caused by the covid-19 pandemic. Performances: for the time to dance season of 2020-2021, the company produced a fully digital season with four productions - garden party: a senior celebration; fall showcase featuring die puppenfee; the nutcracker; and gala performance featuring coppelia. Centennial state ballet obtained livestream technology that allowed these productions to be pre-recorded and streamed at home or viewed later through on demand service. Company membership: youth performers cultivate a variety of soft skills that help prepare them for their future endeavors, whether or not they choose to pursue dance as a professional career. During the rehearsal process, company members must learn to be attentive, detail-oriented self- advocates who are aware of their responsibilities and the needs of those around them. They learn to work collaboratively to solve problems and to respond respectfully and kindly when others need their help. They develop a strong work ethic via this process, remaining committed to their own excellence as well as the collaborative success of the overall production. During performance, the company members must perform with clarity and honesty before large audiences. They must react proactively to the challenges that live performance can bring, be it a dropped prop or a missed note in the orchestra. Through live performance, company members realize they can prepare and work to improve their personal success; however, the overall success of the production requires the collaboration of hundreds of individuals, including staff, volunteers, stage hands, and other performers. These are powerful lessons that help our alum succeed now and in the future. For the digital season, company members had a new opportunity to participate in performance for film. Garden party 2020: a senior celebration featured ten (10) returning alumni and was developed as a response to the shut down due to the covid-19 pandemic. Dancers were given the opportunity to have coaching one on one with choreography set on them to showcase their individual gifts. Dancers were filmed by professional videographers who then edited their dances into a final piece. Fall showcase 2020 featuring die puppenfee included 46 youth company members and 3 community member volunteers. The nutcracker 2020 included 58 youth company members and 6 community member volunteers. Gala performance 2021 featuring coppelia included 53 youth company members and 2 community member volunteers. Centennial state ballet cultivates a thriving boys ballet program. Boys in ballet develop strength, discipline, stamina, balance, and leadership skills. The challenge, effort, and camaraderie during rehearsals and performances are what motivate and excite our young gentlemen to become strong male role models in both the ballet world and their respective communities. Community enrichment: due to the pandemic, many community enrichment programs were placed on hold during the 2020/21 season. Centennial state ballet enhances the cultural life of our northern colorado community by preparing youth dance

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt5TO ENGAGE, ENRICH, AND ENSPIRE THE HUMAN SPIRIT THROUGH ARTISTICALLY EXCEPTIONAL YOUTH BALLET PERFORMANCES
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt6OUR 9TH ANNUAL TIME TO DANCE DIGITAL SEASON FEATURED YOUTH PERFORMERS RANGING IN AGES FROM 5 TO 18 YEARS OLD (CULLED FROM LOCAL DANCE STUDIOS) AND COMMUNITY MEMBER VOLUNTEER PERFORMERS.
