“Daisy c.h.a.i.n. Creating healthy alliances in new-mothering is a non- profit organization dedicated to providing the community with research and evidence-based education and support services for new-mothers and their families because all women deserve access to breastfeeding support and doula care from qualified members of their community. Daisy c.h.a.i.n. Program meets families where they are at, in their home and in the community. Professional, nonjudgmental services are provided free to offer equitable access to programs that are research and evidence based to reduce stress, increase breastfeeding duration, improve lifelong emotional and physical health outcomes for families, increase kindergarten readiness, and empower parents to be leaders of their families while accessing community resources as needed. The dc home visiting model pairs a professional postpartum doula, to support and educate the family on normal newborn growth and development and normal postpartum recovery for the mother, with an ibclc who will screen for, prevent, and treat breastfeeding difficulties as they arise. Daisy c.h.a.i.n. Sends doulas into families' homes for two weeks of two hour visits for a total of 10-12 hours. Ibclc visits are as needed in the home for two weeks and follow up in-office or walk-in support (baby scale available) for the duration of the breastfeeding relationship and 24 hour text/email counseling from ibclc is available for established clients.”
