“Community development - dormitory was built to provide housing, nourishment and a safe haven for up to 50 female students. Vegetable gardens and fruit trees were planted on the grounds for nourishment. The grounds also provided a haven for many families escaping gang violence. Sociocultural programs for 273 youth including sports, games, music and dance and other cultural events were initiated. Two brothers in the program were selected to play soccer on haiti's international team. A micro-credit and financial program was initiated for 30 women. The property provided a venue for 4 weddings, 100 baptisms and 2 funerals. 15 people from the community were employed.”
“Education - professional school for women in 2 communities. All 80 students scored a perfect score of 100 on state exams. A new kindergarten school was started on grounds. 29 scholarships were provided to k-12 and 5 university scholarships were awarded.”
“Health and human services including humanitarian aid - clinics in 2 communities provided medical care for 281 patients. Treatment was provided for brain cancer, breast cancer, fibroids, breast cysts, hypertension, diabetics, vaginal and urinary infections, mental disorders, kidney stones, h-pylori positive (stomach ulcers), pneumonia, asthma, rheumatism and arthrosis, hernia, cataract/glaucoma. Family planning program developed with haitian center for health providing birth control pills and shots for 50 women each month. A program for stress/mental health and health care education was added for young women and girls in the community suffering from the effects of gang violence. Soccer, volleyball, singing and dance were part of the program. Stress/mental relief activities based on theme "we love each other" provided for community youth. The program included swimming, cultural events and therapy. 4 families with 28 family members provided with monthly food. 3 families were provided with housing.”
