“In March of 2020, SMLC was approached by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining NCDMM, a subsidiary of the Manufacturing Technology Deployment Group (MTDG), a Clearwater, Florida headquartered 501(c)(3) Corporation, about the possibility of affiliating with Advanced Manufacturing International, also an MTDG subsidiary and 501(c)(3) Corporation. SMLC leadership held a series of discussions with NCDMM and AMI leadership and concluded that such an affiliation would be in the best interests of SMLC, providing an enhanced resource base to further SMLC's role as a forum for collaboration accelerating industry-wide innovative and affordable network-based smart manufacturing. In May, SMLC signed an agreement to provide consulting services to AMI to advise AMI regarding options for the organization and operation of a smart manufacturing consortium. In August, SMLC signed an affiliation agreement outlining the roles and responsibilities of the two organizations post-affiliation, with SMLC being reimbursed for expenses related to deliverables under the agreement. Revenue from the Consulting Agreement was $244,055 and expense reimbursement from the Affiliation Agreement was $196,924, resulting in an increase in net assets of $47,131, as reflected in Part I and Part VIII and Part IX.”

Continuing into 2020, extensive discussions about strategy, goals and objectives were held and drafts of potential charters and mission statements were developed and shared with the SMLC Board. A consensus emerged and resulted in the development of a "Future Directions" webinar highlighting SMLC's future role as a forum for collaboration accelerating industry-wide, innovative, and affordable network-based smart manufacturing as well as SMLC's continued member-focus with its activities suggested and prioritized by its members. |

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 0 | In March of 2020, SMLC was approached by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining NCDMM, a subsidiary of the Manufacturing Technology Deployment Group (MTDG), a Clearwater, Florida headquartered 501(c)(3) Corporation, about the possibility of affiliating with Advanced Manufacturing International, also an MTDG subsidiary and 501(c)(3) Corporation. SMLC leadership held a series of discussions with NCDMM and AMI leadership and concluded that such an affiliation would be in the best interests of SMLC, providing an enhanced resource base to further SMLC's role as a forum for collaboration accelerating industry-wide innovative and affordable network-based smart manufacturing. In May, SMLC signed an agreement to provide consulting services to AMI to advise AMI regarding options for the organization and operation of a smart manufacturing consortium. In August, SMLC signed an affiliation agreement outlining the roles and responsibilities of the two organizations post-affiliation, with SMLC being reimbursed for expenses related to deliverables under the agreement. Revenue from the Consulting Agreement was $244,055 and expense reimbursement from the Affiliation Agreement was $196,924, resulting in an increase in net assets of $47,131, as reflected in Part I and Part VIII and Part IX. |
