“Yasyr has been engaged in an exploratory and research phase in order to determine how to best meet its mission and, through an informed decision based on its research, meet the needs of its beneficiaries. Such research has involved volunteers traveling to Germany, Greece, and Lebanon in order to engage with Syrians impacted by the war and assessing their needs as refugees. With this in mind, Yasyr did not provide any grants nor have any other expenses throughout the tax year and instead, focused on research which its volunteers have chosen to self-fund rather than use the resources of the organisation.”

“Yasyr's net assets come from an initial fundraising effort in 2013. Since this time, no other fundraising efforts have taken place and instead, Yasyr's volunteers have been actively collecting data in order to ensure that they can in the near future effectively target the needs of Yasyr's vulnerable beneficiaries.”

“Yasyr is a District of Columbia corporation exclusively dedicated to supporting projects and efforts wholly focused on improving the welfare of Syrians. Yasyr has four objectives: (1) to provide emergency humanitarian aid in Syria in response to the country's current political crisis; (2) to encourage the development of Syrian health and education systems; (3) to provide a platform for open dialogue, cultural awareness, and active participation in shaping Syria's future, particularly among, but not limited to Syrian Americans; and (4) to contribute to Syrian civil society development. Yasyr was formed solely for charitable purposes and is a nonpartisan organization. “Noura Ismail is currently the Program Manager for Yasyr and like all other members of the organization, entirely volunteers her time to the project. She is currently participating in the research study to help determine Yasyr's upcoming projects and services that will best help meet its mission.”
