“The bylaws were amended in 2022 to reflect an updated mission statement of, "Empower individuals in abusive situations by providing advocacy and support services; to educate and motivate the community to be proactive in eliminating abuse." The Vision of the Corporation was updated to, "To empower individuals, educate the community and eliminate abuse." The Philosophy of the Corporation was updated to, "Abusive situations such as domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, sexual assault, bullying, and stalking are a reality within our own community, and throughout the country. These abusive situations know no economic, social, age, or religious background. We oppose the use of violence as a means of control over others and support equality background. We oppose the use of violence as a means of control over others and support equality in relationship and the concept of helping individuals assume power over their lives. The Corporation's goal is eliminate the cycle of abuse. The purpose of our agency is: a. To provide 24-hour crisis intervention and advocacy support; b. To supply a safe shelter; c. To provide a safe and supportive environment for families through supervised visitation/exchanges; d. To educate and create awareness in the community about abuse; e. To retain qualified staff and volunteers to carry out all agency functions; f. To maintain a diverse and committed Board of Directors to carry out the policymaking functions of the agency; g. To operate in a fiscally responsible manner to ensure financial stability; h. To continue networking with local and state agencies to ensure a positive working relationship."”

The Organization shelters victims and children of domestic violence for a temporary period of time while they are looking for a new, safe place to live. The Organization also provides advocacy services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, bullying, and stalking. In FY2022, Safe Harbor assisted 1,075 women, children and men that were victims of domestic violence. Safe Harbor also assisted 166 stalking victims; 84 sexual abuse victims; 104 adolescent sexual abuse victims; 35 child abuse victims; 12 victims of bulling and 3 Sex Traffic victims. 41 domestic violence protection orders; and 36 stalking protection orders. The Organization sheltered 54 women, 47 children, and 6 men: providing 2,592 bed nights and 7,776 meals. |
