The facility provides quality medical and long-term care to residents of the surrounding area without regard to the individuals' ability to pay for services received. The Association also provides health education and other services to the community. The Association provides health care services to patients who meet certain criteria under its Charity Care Policy without charge or at amounts less than established rates. Since the Association does not pursue collection of these amounts, they are not reported as patient service revenue. The estimated cost of providing charity care was $3,000 for December 31, 2013. This was calculated by multiplying the ratio of cost to gross charges for the Association by the gross uncompensated charges associated with providing charity care to its patients. |
