Form 990-ez, Part III

A patient-centered approach to healthcare innovation for rare cancers and orphan diseases.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 28

Patient support and advocacy (psa): with a patient's perspective, the crowdcare foundation solves common problems for patients with orphan diseases using practical and simple solutions. The myeloma crowd (www.myelomacrowd.org) and als crowd (alscrowd.org) websites offer aggregated information and the latest news and information about the latest in research for each disease community. Additionally, the crowdcare foundation created a music album (songs for life) for and by cancer patients, as well as useful tools that patients can use while in the clinic: my doc notes and chemo brain doc notes.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 29

Patient education (ped): educated patients can make informed and critical decisions. The crowdcare foundation aims to arm patients with easy-to- understand information about their little-known disease in a variety of ways. The myeloma crowd and als crowd sites help educate patients about the very latest research directly from world-leading researchers and clinicians in the fields of myeloma and als.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 30

Support for clinical trials (sct): the crowdcare foundation recognizes that little-known diseases provide a significant challenge: there aren't that many patients to participate in clinical research. The crowdcare foundation aims to promote clinical trial participation to help accelerate the pace of medical research. The mpatient myeloma radio show (www.mpatient.org) and als crowd radio show (www.alscrowd.org) interview top specialists for each disease so patients can better understand their clinical trial options and opportunities. These shows have been highly effective as a clinical trial recruitment tool to assist patients in understanding the latest drugs in development for their disease.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 31

Support for research: a cure for orphan diseases like multiple myeloma, als and other life-threatening diseases is the ultimate goal. The crowdcare foundation aims to help drive new research by crowd-funding for key research initiatives targeted at rare diseases. This initiative will begin in 2015.
