Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 2

Mark sachs, chairman, judi sachs, secretary, and jennifer negin, director, have a family relationship.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The form 990 is prepared by an independent cpa firm. The form is then reviewed by the organization's president and treasurer in detail. These individuals then discuss the contents of the return with the outside tax professional. After a full review (with modifications where necessary), the final version of the tax return is provided to all members of the organization's voting body.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The board of directors reviews all potential conflicts of interest at least annually. All board members are required to disclose conflicts and any related party affiliations. Loans between the organization and members of management and the board are strictly prohibited. The organization seeks full transparency on all relationships. Any potential conflicts (in fact or appearance) are discussed openly and resolved in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

Line 15a - the executive director's compensation is approved by the personnel committee on the board. Comparability data is used, and the approval process is documented. Line 15b - the organization does not compensate any other officers. Therefore, this question was answered no in accordance with the instructions.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The organization's governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements are available upon request

IRS990ScheduleA/FactsAndCircumstancesTestTxt0RESTORINGVISION'S MISSION IS "TO EMPOWER LIVES BY RESTORING VISION FOR MILLIONS OF PEOPLE IN NEED". WE SERVE AS THE EASIEST, MOST EFFICIENT SOURCE OF NEW, HIGH-QUALITY READING GLASSES FOR CHARITABLE PARTNERS DISTRIBUTING GLASSES TO COMMUNITIES WITH NEED AROUND THE WORLD. DISTRIBUTION OF THE GLASSES IS DONE THROUGH COLLABORATION WITH NONPROFIT PARTNERS AND OTHER GROUPS WHO TAKE THE GLASSES INTO THE FIELD. THROUGH 2018, OVER 13 MILLION PAIRS WERE DISTRIBUTED THROUGH 1,400 CHARITABLE PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS SERVING PEOPLE IN NEED IN 130 COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD. OUR MISSION IS PRIMARILY ACHIEVED WITH GLASSES DONATED BY COMPANIES IN THE READING GLASSES INDUSTRY. ONE COMPANY WITH A SIGNIFICANT MARKET SHARE, ALONG WITH ITS RETAIL PARTNERS, DONATES THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE READING GLASSES DISTRIBUTED BY RESTORINGVISION. AS SUCH, THE PREPONDERANCE OF DONATIONS OF GLASSES WAS CONCENTRATED IN ONE DONOR COMPANY IN 2018. THESE GENEROUS DONATIONS ARE NEEDED TO GROWTH AND SCALE THE EFFORTS TO FULFILL THE ENORMOUS NEED FOR VISION CORRECTION GLOBALLY.FUNDRAISING TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC HAS BEEN INCREASING SINCE THE ORGANIZATION WAS FOUNDED. IT WAS HANDLED ENTIRELY BY VOLUNTEERS UNTIL 2015, WHEN THE FIRST EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR WAS HIRED TO MANAGE THE ORGANIZATION AND INCREASE FUNDRAISING. THE FIRST DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR WAS HIRED IN 2018 TO FURTHER EXPAND FUNDRAISING EFFORTS. IN ADDITION TO DIRECT SOLICITATION OF SPONSORS AND DONORS, RESTORINGVISION PARTICIPATES IN FUNDRAISING EFFORTS WITH THE PUBLIC THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AND GIVING WEBSITES SUCH AS GLOBAL GIVING. GIVING TUESDAY, WORLD SIGHT DAY AND READING GLASSES DAY ARE EXAMPLES OF FUNDRAISING EVENTS IN WHICH THE ORGANIZATION PARTICIPATES.RESTORINGVISION IS MANAGED BY A BOARD OF DIRECTORS THAT IS COMMITTED TO ITS MISSION TO BRING SIGHT TO THOSE IN NEED.
