MiMentor launched its 5th program: MiMentor Health Equity Advocacy & Leadership (HEAL) Promotores Program launched in 2024, the Health Equity Advocacy & Leadership (HEAL) Promotore Training Program is a six-month initiative in partnership with Family HealthCare Network, one of the largest Federally Qualified Health Centers in the Central Valley. Through the program, three participants receive foundational training as Promotores/Community Health Workers along with specialized education on environmental health challenges such as air quality, water safety, and pesticide exposure. Participants are equipped with bilingual (English/Spanish) outreach skills to educate Central Valley residents on reducing health disparities caused by environmental toxins and to advocate for the well-being of vulnerable communities across the region. Program outcomes include preparing pre-health students for health careers, including medical school matriculation, expanding community capacity to advance health equity, and enhancing local resources to prevent and mitigate conditions linked to environmental exposure.

With a robust community comprising over 16,000 members, we provide a comprehensive array of resources and support. Our key programs and initiatives encompass mentorship, professional development, leadership training, networking, and more. Through the delivery of in-person and virtual programming and an app-based platform, we cater specifically to Latinx and other URiM pre-health students, acknowledging and addressing the unique challenges they may encounter in their educational and professional journeys. Our community is primarily located across Southern, Central, and Northern California, with members and mentors also spread nationwide.

MSR provides 13 or more workshops led by renowned physicians and admissions deans, 3 or more writing workshop, individualized 1:1, longitudinal mentorship, small group mentoring, and more, all targeted to help increase MCAT scores, creating a compelling personal statement, offer guidance on how to addres potential gaps in students application, help navigate osteopathic and allopathic medical school applications, secure strong letters of recommendation, assist in curating a medical school list, promote self-advocacy, identify and address imposter syndrome, and more. MeMentors MSR medical school admission rates for recent MSR cohorts are as follows:2023-2024: 90%2022-2023: 86%2021-2022: 81%2020-2021: 84%2019-2020: 73%2018-2019: 93%MSR student admission rates for those who apply to medical school continually and significantly surpass the national average admission rate of approximately 42% annually.

Through the program, three participants receive foundational training as Promotores/Community Health Workers along with specialized education on environmental health challenges such as air quality, water safety, and pesticide exposure. Participants are equipped with bilingual (English/Spanish) outreach skills to educate Central Valley residents on reducing health disparities caused by environmental toxins and to advocate for the well-being of vulnerable communities across the region. Program outcomes include preparing pre-health students for health careers, including medical school matriculation, expanding community capacity to advance health equity, and enhancing local resources to prevent and mitigate conditions linked to environmental exposure.
