The iowa broadcasters association foundation was established to support the educational and charitable activities of the iowa broadcasters association, dedicated to promoting the future of iowa broadcasting through a commitment to education, providing scholarships to iowa students seeking broadcasting careers, prompting research and teaching in the field of broadcasting and offering professional training and development opportunities for iowa broadcasters through meetings, seminars and workshops, helping iowa radio and television stations better serve their local communities.

Uni digital media leadership program: digital broadcasting, personal media devices, social media, and the internet are dramatically transforming the media industry. Iowa broadcasters will continue to be a part of the digital media landscape, but will require new and creative approaches to remain relevant and to meet audience needs. Digital media of the future will require a new generation of smart, capable, innovative industry leaders. To meet this need, the foundation supports the university of northern iowa (uni) digital media leadership program. The program will be an emphasis within the uni digital media major and now minor. The digital media leadership program curriculum, developed through collaboration between university faculty and iowa broadcasters, emphasizes media trends, economics, marketing and strategic planning along with a comprehensive core in digital media. Graduates will be prepared to provide direction to electronic media of the future. It is expected that annually 15-20 students majoring in the uni digital media leadership program will each be eligible to receive a 2,500 scholarship for the academic year, funded by the iba foundation, with opportunities for additional scholarships in the future as iba foundation funds permit. All iba foundation scholarship grants are made payable directly to the university of northern iowa foundation for the selected student's benefit. Recipients of the scholarships are selected by the university.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 29

Uni digital media scholarships and iowa community college grants program: the iba foundation provides annual post-secondary scholarship and grant awards to qualifying students studying broadcasting and digital media- related fields at the university of northern iowa, iowa western community college, iowa lakes community college and marshalltown community college. These scholarships and grants assist media students with the payment of tuition and fees. As funds allow, the iba foundation intends to increase the scholarship and grant awards. All digital media scholarships and grants are in the nature of gifts to the recipient students, and are not loans. The iba foundation makes scholarships and grants payable directly to the college or university, recognized under internal revenue code 501(c) (3), to be applied in the recipient's name.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 30

Archives of iowa broadcasting: the foundation supported the archives of iowa broadcasting with a grant of 5,000. The archives of iowa broadcasting maintains a permanent collection of materials relating to the history and development of radio and television in iowa, accessible to all students and the general public. At the heart of the collection's early development was an effort to record the personal experiences of iowa broadcasters. Today the oral history collection, consisting of over 100 interviews and is but one part of a repository that houses over 1,500 linear feet of books, journals, audiovisual materials, organizational records, photographs, artifacts, and other historically significant materials.
