We are focused on empowering youth and adults to understand challenges faced by community members who are marginalized and vulnerable. Our core programs focus on the public health challenge of mental illness, suicide, and stigma, and incorporate the power of sharing stories through the written word or the visual arts.

“Minds interrupted: stories of lives affected by mental illness is a combination of writing workshops and community monologue performances presented in a professional theatre setting to help erase the stigma and stereotypes surrounding mental illness. Each presentation features individuals from within their local community who share their heartfelt story of pain, confusion, humor and resilience of the impact of mental illness - either as someone with an illness or as a family member. In 2014, we presented "minds" in albuquerque at the kimo theatre to an audience of 350. “Photovoice: "untold mind" is a photovoice project that is a ground-breaking approach to sharing photos and telling stories to change community perceptions of individuals living with mental illness. In 2014, five participants took hundreds of photos, selected two of their choice, and wrote 150-word stories that reflected on how these photos speak to their life living with mental illness. All participants were mentored in this process. Photovoice was exhibited at the james kelly contemporary gallery. The crooked house.
