Our goal is to make montrose colorado a no barriers city and invite americas wounded troops to live in this community where they can have the opportunity to thrive. We are entirely volunteer powered and donation funded. With the suicide, divorce and unemployment rates so high in our military population, montrose means to set the standard for other cities to follow in how to serve those who stepped up to serve all of us. By strengthening our services, identifying and filling our gaps, creating programs and removing the barriers in our infrastructure, we are preparing a place for our wounded warriors to visit and hopefully, to stay.

The wrc is funded by donations and run by volunteers. It served 225 veterans in the last four months of 2012. This helped them determine the likelihood of their success and job satisfaction should they pur sure the education required. It also exposed them to life in montrose, co, hoping they would choose to relocate here. In return, they advised whm as to gaps in morntrose's services, infrastructure, and adaptive recreation. The program was entirely funded with community donations and was run with volunteer mentors. 3)continued the business window sticker program hwere local businesses agree to display a veteran discount promotional sticker in the window and honor it to those who show a whm dog tag. The dog tags were issued to veterans who could prove military service and have three purposes: a) to create a database of veterans, b)to provide discounts to military families, and c) to increase visibility to the community and show gratitude for a veteran's service. 4)initiated "voice" (veterans openly imparting centuries of experience)program wherein veterans' voices are recorded and transcribed into text that helps them tell their stories including pictures. 5)initiated "let freedom ring" program to honor those whose choice to serve and sacrifice.”
