Form 990-ez, Part III

The mission of the san antonio bay partnership is to create and sustain a working partnership of committed stakeholders who protect, restore, and enhance the natural resources of the san antonio bay/guadalupe estuary system for the benefit of the ecosystem and its human uses. The program service goals of the san antonio bay partnership are to (1) maintain a sound ecological environment in the san antonio bay/guadalupe estuary system, (2) enhance human and economic uses of the san antonio bay/guadalupe estuary system, and (3) promote education and outreach activities.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 28

Participated in texas parks and wildlife's annual abandoned crab trap removal program to locate, catalog, and remove abandoned crab traps from the san antonio bay/guadalupe estuary. Abandoned crab traps pose a serious health hazard to the estuary ecosystem through ghost fishing-- unintentionally trapping and killing crabs, fish, and turtles. Data is then analyzed to help understand reasons for trap dereliction and find solutions.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 29

Funded the annual estuary education program to provide students and teachers from selected school districts with the opportunity to participate in the texas floating classroom: a marine education program for k-12 students involving a 90-minute trip onboard the research vessel archimedes, onshore activities to supplement the boat trip, and a traveling touch tank. The program's goal is to improve students' understanding of the ecology of the bay/estuary system and help them recognize their role in the conservation of coastal resources.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 30

Organized the annual shoreline cleanup project around the san antonio bay/guadalupe estuary cataloging and then removing and trash such as plastic bottles, bags, pieces, aluminum cans, and other accumulated litter from shorelines and mangroves. Removing such trash protects the ecosystem and its inhabitants.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 31

Mid-coast sea turtle recovery for cold-stunned and other stranded turtles, restoration of a small reef to promote nesting of american oystercatchers, and ongoing paddling trail development with the powederhorn paddling trail.
