“To nurture and restore hope to children at risk, by providing educational, emotional, physical and spiritual support to help them reach their potential and find their purpose in life as one community locks arms and works together.”

“Our academic program is run entirely by skilled and non-skilled tutors and mentors that assist with homework, reading and computer lab for up to 1 hours, monday -friday during the school year and 1 hour wednesday-friday during the summer. Others teach and assist with faith lessons and enrichment programs. Administrative volunteers assist with finances, maintaining and updating student records, answering the phone, collaborating with school representatives via email and telephone calls to parents. Other volunteers (including cdl bus drivers) assist with providing transportation for students from city and county schools. A boutique for our students is stocked, sorted, organized and maintained by volunteer staff as well. The food/nutrition department of our health program is run entirely by a volunteer staff that is responsible for acquiring, distributing, stocking, purchasing, storing, planning menus and preparing meals and snacks. This team also spends time soliciting food donations from businesses and restaurants. Other volunteers assist with serving meals and cleaning dining, kitchen and the rest of the building. The recreation volunteers assist with physical activities and oversee the children during recess time and utilize the gym area. During special events year round and summer program, group and teams volunteer and bring special programs/ activities for our students.”

“In and through programs offered at mhfk, children at-risk will be provided with tools, skills and support to help them overcome the many challenges they face at home, school and life. However, emphasis will not be on the program of the mission, but the person of the mission - children. In order to help them succeed, we will surround them with a solid network of loving, caring mentors who are willing to make investments into the lives of the children and often times their families. Because family and community are essential to a child's development, community partners and friends will work together to become a positive force in the lives of the children. Major aspects or areas of support at mhfk: academics (literacy), homework and reading spiritual and moral development education (parents: life skills, children: bullying, hatred, racism, ) physical: food and clothing (grace's boutique)”
