We are known for being a trusted source of credible, nonpartisan information and have been at the forefront of building an education-first culture in arizona. Our unique niche is our ability to bring seemingly disparate voices together to make change happen. We do this by embracing the "gray area," which means we recognize there are often both things to celebrate and to improve and there is always a middle ground. We are the only education organization in arizona that works with partners and stakeholders around the state at every level of the education continuum. Whether we've been invited to the table to participate in a conversation about an important education issue or convened stakeholders ourselves, our guiding principle is to always do what is in the best, long-term interest of every student every step of the way. We use the arizona education progress meter to guide and inform our work. The progress meter includes a shared vision and set of goals for education in arizona, from the early years through college and career. We created the progress meter in partnership with the center for the future of arizona and in collaboration with more than 200 organizations throughout the state. We have advanced the education progress meter to be the widely accepted education framework in arizona - the first of its kind. The goals focus on quality early learning, 3rd grade reading proficiency, 8th grade math, high school graduation, opportunity youth, post-high school enrollment, attainment, and teacher pay. Impact together with our partners, we have achieved some great results: - education is the 1 priority in arizona for three years in a row - created the largest movement in arizona to support education with 80k individuals and 340 partners - developed the arizona education progress meter, which includes a shared vision and set of goals for education in arizona in collaboration with more than 200 organizations - advanced the education progress meter as the widely accepted framework for education in arizona, as demonstrated by policymakers adopting the goals, adoption by the state board of education and department of education, use by other education organizations, funders using the goals to shape their investments, schools using the goals in their strategic plans, and adoption of the goals by 40 cities and towns. - served as a trusted convener and collaborator, leading the yuma education advocacy council and douglas education partnership council - acted as a go-to for statewide media, generating more than 300 earned media placements and more than 60m impressions - achieved key policy wins, including: - ensuring arizona classrooms have rigorous standards that help all students be prepared for career and college - improving supports and communications to parents to support all students reading by the end of 3rd grade - supported successful ballot propositions that have increased or protected funding for education - increasing funding to k-12 education, career and technical education, and our state universities visit www.expectmorearizona.org to join the movement.”
