“In Fiscal 24, CALL continued work on its major, ten-year WaterMarks effort to advance water stewardship in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We also furthered long-term efforts around Rescuing Tibbetts with three collaborative projects the Tibbets Estuary Tapestry, The Buried Brook, and visions of Tibbets each, conceived to increase public engagement with the landmark daylighting of Tibbetts Brook in the NW Bronx. The Tibbetts Estuary Tapestry is a quilt embroidered by one hundred community members to evoke a vision for greening the neighborhood conceived by artists Matthew Lopez-Jensen and Ana de la Cueva. CALL shared the Tapestry at a variety of galleries,community centers, and school campuses. The Buried Brook, by composer KamalaSankram, is a augmented reality experience available in Van Cortlandt Park and nearby neighborhoods that track the historic course of the buried brook. For Visions of Tibbets photographer and conceptual artist, Manuel Acevedo, worked with consulting scientists and local middle schoolers to building awareness of the benefits of daylighting and then building long-term ownership in this important infrastructure project. In Milwaukee, CALL continued to build partnerships with key neighborhoods - most compromised by flooding - to understand the important rolls local residents can play in mitigating combined sewer overflows and understand the importance of thr citys precious water resources. Numerous, interdisciplinary WALKS were conducted along with community workshops that led to the selection of Marker letters and commissioning of new works by area artists.”
