Our mission is to make art theatre music and dance accessible to students ages 6-18 families and senior citizens who have Alzheimer's Disease and dementia. We accomplish this task through classes programs and community outreach meant to use the arts as a common ground for conversations. Our holistic approach sees theatre not as just a product but a process by which we can improve the lives of our students young and young at heart while furthering the landscape of arts in our community and town.

Open Arts Alliance provides 3 summer musicals which include two-week intensives annually to foster an appreciation for the arts, as well give students a first-hand experience by collaborating with trained professionals in the arenas of acting, singing, dancing, technical theatre practucum, costume design, scenic design and vocal technique. In addition, educational workshops and field trips are offered annually to further enrich their art education and bridge the gap betweek the curriculum and real world experience for those considering a career in the arts. Our programs provide training for over 330 students and impact over 2,100 community members each year. |

Open Arts proudly pioneers therapeutic music and drama programs for senior citizens that use principles and practices of the performing arts to bring music and laughter to health-care facilities, assisted living communities and community centers, making theatre accessible for all, particularly those struggling with dementia, Alzheimer's disease or limited physical mobility. These programs are driven by suggestions and vision from the Leadership Councils. The Open Arts Alliance Leadership Council is composed of students in grades 8-12. Leaders are developed through the council with the aim of mentoring new and younger students in the organization, aiding in organizing tasks, program development, parent and student outreach, social media and philanthropic endeavors. In-school residencies are designed to be conducted in public and private schools for 6-8 weeks. Professional teaching artists teach 50-60 students in grades 3-5 and a full-scale musical is presented to the learning community at the end of the residency. Open Arts Alliance actively engages theatre arts professionals by offering financial and creative support to develop new projects. These programs impact over 4,500 community members each year. |
