“Held an advocacy day with 80 breastfeeding advocates to educate their state legislative representatives about the importance of paid family leave. Produced a shared-decision-making tool for providers and patients to use in making informed health-care decisions regarding breastfeeding during covid-19. Produced and released a new brief, lactation support for low-wage workers in collaboration with the california department of public health and the california wic association. This report highlights the lack of supportive workplaces for people in low-wage jobs, low household incomes, and for whom english is not their primary language. The report includes three main strategies to ensure low-wage workers receive the quality accommodation needed for lactation. Held the cbc lunch and learn network meeting organized and conducted the following webinars: can i still pump at work? Pandemic considerations for lactating workers in california; strengthening family resilience in a vuca world: a collaborative approach across the continuum of care and, the baby-led approach to feeding: what does the research say? Supported sb 1383, that expands family and medical leave rights job protection to employees working in businesses with five or more employees, down from fifty. Governor signed 9/20. Participated in the national breastfeeding month breastfeeding promotion activities. Created a social media campaign and toolkit for local coalitions. Convened the ab 2507 implementation workgroup and met once a month. Identified as a lactation influencer in research article on dissemination of accurate breastfeeding information during covid-19, and also as being a conduit of credible information among unconnected lactation networks on twitter. Sent out forty notices/newsletters to email list. Served as a media contact for reporters about breastfeeding issues in california. Maintain facebook and twitter accounts for breastfeeding promotion.”
