“Washington trafficking prevention (wtp) is a survivor-led grassroots nonprofit that empowers and equips young people, parents, professionals and community members to end human trafficking in washington state. We engage young people through two tailored programs: youth education prevention program (middle school) and trafficking prevention for schools (high school). These two programs engage young people in developmentally appropriate ways to build skills to practice empathy, engage in healthy relationships, and to uproot the social norms that contribute to exploitation. Adults are engaged through six programs we offer. Parents and caregivers are equipped with the tools to strengthen relationships and interrupt safety risks for young people they care for through online safety for families. Wtp provides professional trainings tailored by sector to equip professionals who interact with young people to identify, report, and respond to human trafficking: preventing and responding to csec for educators, preventing and responding to csec for social workers, human trafficking for medical professionals, and investigating human trafficking for law enforcement. Community members who are interested in learning more about human trafficking can attend our human trafficking 101 awareness workshop. Wtp's coalitions against trafficking (cats) are the arms of the organization in local communities and engage community members in local prevention efforts in pierce, thurston, and skagit counties.
