Health and nutrition services: the commodity supplemental food program provides low-income seniors with a supplemental supply of monthly staples. Wellness education courses, including walk with ease and nutrition counseling, address barriers to improved health outcomes for vulnerable populations.

Catholic charities qualifies as a charitable organization as defined by internal revenue code section 501(c)(3) and accordingly it is exempt from federal income taxes under internal revenue code section 501(a) and similar provisions of state law. Income from certain activities not directly related to catholic charities' exempt purpose is subject to taxation as unrelated business income. Catholic charities had no unrelated business income for the years ended june 30, 2019 and 2020. Catholic charities files an irs form 990 return of organization exempt from income tax. Returns are generally subject to examination by the irs for three years after they are filed.
