“Primary Exempt Purpose:Wiki Society of Washington, DC Inc. is a regional Wikimedia chapter serving Washington DC and nearby states: VA, MD, WV, and DE. We help promote free access to the worlds knowledge in support of Wikipedia and the other projects of the Wikimedia Foundation for the advancement of education and general knowledge, through the collection, development, and dissemination of educational content under a free license or in the public domain. Program Service Accomplishments:Wikimedia DC continued to hold collaborative editing events (edit-a-thons) and educational events aimed at improving information literacy and awareness of open knowledge movements, which are our main institutional partnership program activity. Most of these are public events organized by our staff, and we present Wikipedia training. This fiscal year, Wikimedia DC ran or supported dozens events in partnership with over 20 institutional partners and one company seeking to create a rewarding volunteer experience. These events included a broad spectrum of cultural, academic, and government institutions, and non-governmental organizations.
